A $1.5M refurbishment and extension of the former Knox Row property on George Street, Dunedin, by its owner, the Nichols Property Group, has provided Lone Star with a new flagship restaurant and bar facility.

This original building was stripped back to its shell and the ground and first floors extended significantly to provide additional retail / hospitality floor-space. All essential building and site services, utilities and infrastructure were upgraded and the site fully landscaped.

Signal managed the project for Nichols Property Group including the initial concept, feasibility and resource consent planning phase followed by the design and construction of the base building which was completed within 7 months. Flexible construction programming towards the end of the base build enabled Lone Star to undertake the fit-out of the building while the base build was being completed.

The stylish, refurbished and revitalised Knox Row building now provides capacity for up to 500 patrons. The ground floor provides a combination of indoor dining, a rear garden with retractable roof, open courtyards and balconies facing the main street. Upstairs comprises a series of flexible restaurant / function / bar areas. Both levels are serviced by its own commercial kitchen.
