Dunedin International Airport - Emergency Services Building Redevelopment - Stage 2

Signal has continued its long-standing relationship with Dunedin Airport with the successful completion of Stage 2 of the Airport Emergency Services building redevelopment.

The building has been expanded to cater for new specialised Rosenbauer Panther fire trucks.  The new trucks replaced old vehicles and have room for about 9000 litres of water, 1200 litres of foam and 250kg of dry powder.  Manufactured in Europe, they are powered by a 16-litre 700kW Volvo engines running to a Euro-5 emission standard.  The new appliances are considerably bigger than previous appliances at 11.5m long and 3.6m wide.

The building now has a new, higher roof structure and has been extended in two directions to increase capacity.  New specialised fume extract systems were also installed.

Signal delivered this project using its Integrated Project and Construction Management methodology.
