Gore District Council offices project gets the green light

The Gore District Council has given approval to proceed with a $6M redevelopment of its office building in Gore.  The new building will feature open plan office space over two floors, an extension over the existing southern carpark, meetings rooms and a customer-friendly reception area.  The existing building will be earthquake strengthened and asbestos will be removed.

Gore District Mayor Tracy Hicks said the project was an investment in the future of the District: “This is the most significant project the Council has undertaken during my time.”

The project will be managed by Signal Management Group.  Signal has had a long relationship with the Gore District Council going back to the construction of the Gore Aquatic Centre nearly 20 years ago.  Signal’s integrated project and construction management project delivery methodology has allowed the Council to ensure that a significant amount of work is to be carried out by local firms.  Of the 25 trade contractors to be working on the project, seven were from the Gore District and 13 from Southland.
