The rapidly growing Queenstown population called for Wakatipu
High School to expand its facilities and infrastructure in order to
cater for the increased roll-growth.
The first phase of the project was the construction of a science
lab and a graphics room, designed and constructed in less than
23 weeks. The fast-track programme ensured the buildings were
completed on time for the start of the second term of the school
year.
This was followed by a second phase of design and construction
of a new two-storey 6 classroom block and the upgrade of the
school's infrastructure. The new block was to be known as the
Robertson Block after the school's founding principal Keith
Robertson.
Additional roll-growth prompted the school to add a further two
classrooms to the Robertson Block just months after its
completion.
As the local population is expected to continue to grow further
provision has been made within the Robertson Block for additional
capacity.
