St Marks School Redevelopment

Located in the established suburb of Opawa in Christchurch, St Mark's is an integrated co-educational school offering a special Christian character to Year 0 - 8 children. The school caters for a maximum roll of 245 students.

The school experienced significant damage in the Canterbury earthquakes. A small teaching building was demolished immediately following the 2011 earthquake and two other buildings (the school's library and hall) have been out of use since.

Signal Management Group led the preparation of a comprehensive $7M development master plan for the St Mark's School board of proprietors and has subsequently been leading the staged implementation of the master plan.

The existing library building was damaged beyond repair and has been demolished.  In its place a new four teaching-space senior school building has been constructed, designed to modern Innovative Learning Environment standards.  The school's hall has also been repaired and substantially strengthened with new foundations, new floor slab and significant additional steel structure.  A new stage house, music suite and toilets have also been added to this building.

The third stage of development currently underway is the repair, strengthening and modernisation of the school's four-teaching space junior block.
