Signal was originally engaged by the school Board of Trustees to
complete a Condition Assessment and 10 Year Property Plan for the
school. Arising from this the Board secured $1.36M in funding from
the Ministry of Education to undertake a comprehensive
redevelopment and modernisation of its Kakahu Block.
The single storey specialist block now accommodates three
general purpose classrooms, a laboratory, music suite and learning
support (special needs) suite, all upgraded to current MLE
standards and retro-fitted with heat pumps and double glazing
throughout.
Staged construction and adherence to a comprehensive safety
planning protocol enabled construction to continue during the
school year while careful logistical planning also ensured minimum
disruption to day to day school activities throughout.
The project was completed to coincide with the start of Term 1
2013 while significant value management and value engineering
initiatives maximised the Board's available budget.
Signal is continuing its relationship with Geraldine High School
and is now managing a range of smaller projects for the school as
part of the implementation of the 10 Year Property Plan.
