The Queenstown Lakes District Council has identified a need for
a new community swimming pool complex and indoor stadium for
Wanaka.
A number of possible sites were identified by the
Council. After much consultation and discussion the
decision was narrowed to two alternatives: the existing Wanaka
Recreation Reserve (or 'showgrounds' site) and a new 'green-fields'
location at the proposed Three Parks multi-use development in east
Wanaka.
Signal Management Group was commissioned by the Council to lead
the comparitive analysis of the two sites. Signal director
Stuart Anderson worked with project stakeholders (including
sporting and community groups and green-fields site owners) on
possible design options. Stuart also led an expert team that
prepared various design options and analysed key issues and risks
associated with the each site and led the negotiation of
stakeholder agreements with the two landowners involved.
This information was presented to the Council and the public by
Stuart at a meeting of the Council in Wanaka. The Council
subsequently decided to proceed with the new facilities on the new
Three Parks green-fields site.
